Give your next gathering a setting with a story. The John Wesley Powell River History Museum offers distinctive rental spaces for meetings, educational presentations, workshops, receptions, and other professional events.

 

Conveniently located just off Interstate 70, the Museum is close to restaurants and lodging for groups of many sizes. Green River is approximately 45 minutes from Moab, one hour from Price, and 90 minutes from Grand Junction, Colorado—making it an accessible meeting place in the heart of the Colorado Plateau.

Rental Availability

Museum spaces are available Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Earlier start/set-up times or later closing times may be arranged in advance, depending on staff availability. Sunday and Monday rentals may also be possible by special arrangement when staffing permits.

Our Spaces

Choose from two distinctive settings:

  • Lower-Level Meeting Space: A flexible gathering space accommodating up to 150 guests.
  • Museum Theater: A dedicated 170-seat theater ideal for presentations, lectures, screenings, and performances.
Our lower-level accommodates 150 people and boasts a variety of set-up options.
The theater accommodates 170 people. Podium, microphones, and projector are available.

Rental Fees

Commercial or Private Rate: $250 per day

Non-profit or Government Rate: $0 – $150 per day negotiated based on use and/or organization type

(Cleaning fee for use of museum tablecloths)

Resource Availability

  • 42 folding 8-foot tables and 100 chairs are available for use in the lower-level meeting space
  • Table linens are available upon request; separate cleaning fee may apply 
  • Public Wi-Fi connection for attendees
  • AV projection devices with cord connection(s) for most PC and Mac laptops (must bring personal laptop), laser screen slide advancer/pointer, microphone/speaker set-up, and podium
    • Large screen TV in lower-level meeting space with thumb drive slideshow or laptop connection, webcam
    • Projector in theater connection to laptop with video/sound from laptop, Blu-Ray disc player

Conditions for use of the museum facilities

Renter Responsibility:

  • Set-up and take-down of meeting space furnishings 
  • Clean and restore areas included in your request to the condition in which they were found
Damage and Liability:
  • Renter agrees to pay for the repair or replacement of damaged property or furnishings within 30 days of rental
  • Renter shall release and hold harmless the John Wesley Powell River History Museum (JWPRHM) and City of Green River from liability for any injury to Renter, resulting from any cause whatsoever, including but not limited to acts of nature and intentional or negligent acts of third parties, but excepting intentional acts of JWPRHM and/or City of Green River staff, and further, Renter shall indemnify and defend JWPRHM and City of Green River against any claim for loss, damages, or injury made by Renter’s guests

Special Terms and Conditions:

  • Water is allowed in closed containers only. No food, alcohol, wall decorations, or smoke/mist-generating devices are allowed in the facility
  • JWPRHM cannot accommodate requests for birthday parties, wedding receptions, holiday parties, or related celebrations inside the museum. Such requests will be denied and groups will be directed to contact other venues that can better suit their needs. 
  • The museum property is unique, and as such, may require special terms and conditions in addition to those listed above and if applicable will be supplied in writing
  • JWPRHM cannot accept any liability during rental for loss of comfort, services, equipment and the like due to weather, accidental shutoffs, and breakdowns. Every effort will be made to ensure continuance of service through temporary means and pre-planning. JWPRHM reserves the right to evacuate and close the building for safety
