A Celebration of the River

The Smithsonian’s Water/Ways exhibition, on display at the museum from April 3 – June 6, 2021, dove into water – an essential component of life on our planet – environmentally, culturally and historically. Water is a vital global, regional and local resource.

Designed as a companion piece to the Smithsonian’s traveling exhibit,  Our River is Our Community explored the significance of the river in the Green River community’s past, present, and future. “The Green River is essential to life and culture in southeastern Utah, and speaks with simple power to those who have eyes to listen.”

The museum hosted a variety of engaging programs and activities to accompany the exhibits, including a screening of the film, River Omens, a short film created by Epicenter Frontier Fellow Sam Cox, Diversion, a personal exhibition response created by the eighth grade digital media class at Green River High School, and River Stories, a student podcast project also created by students at Green River High School.
