Letterboxing (Grades 3-9)
Letterboxing combines treasure hunting, puzzle solving, and navigation. Learn the basics of orienteering and craft your own stamps before following clues and your compasses to find letterboxes hidden near the museum (River History Expedition Letterboxing) or in downtown Green River (Green River Discovery Letterboxing). Contact Tim (firstname.lastname@example.org or 435-564-3427) for more information.
History Mystery (Grades 5 – 12)
What can a group of artifacts tell you about the past? Examine objects and primary source documents to piece together a picture of the past. Current History Mystery topics include Georgie White Clark (a 20th century river runner) and Cold War Civil Defense. Participants don’t need any prior knowledge about the topics to participate! Contact Tim (email@example.com or 435-564-3427) for more information.
Primarily Powell (Grades 7-12)
Exercise your creativity and write and perform a short skit about John Wesley Powell’s 1869 expedition down the Green and Colorado rivers! Participants will get an introduction to reading primary sources and showcase their interpretive and creative talents on the stage at the museum. Contact Tim (firstname.lastname@example.org or 435-564-3427) for more information.
